Japanese BBQ Restaurant Gyu-Kaku Now Open at Burlington Mall

There is a new place to dine in Burlington, one where customers can get into the grilling experience.

Japanese grill restaurant Gyu-Kaku is now open in The Village at Burlington Mall in the former Sears Tire and Battery location at 85 Middlesex Turnpike.

According to the business’s website, there are over 700 Gyu-Kaku establishments worldwide and this is its fourth location in Massachusetts. The website also explains the concept of the Japanese grill.

“Gyu-Kaku, meaning ‘Horn of the Bull’ in Japanese, provides the authentic Japanese yakiniku (grilled barbecue) dining experience where customers share premium cooked meats over a flaming charcoal grill, while sipping on Japanese sake, shochu, and frosty cold beers,” it reads. “Gyu-Kaku offers a wide range of meats including the best-seller Harami Skirt Steak in Miso Marinade and Certified Angus Kalbi Short Rib in Tare Sweet Soy Marinade.”

During a Select Board meeting for a liquor license hearing back in April, attorney Mark Vaughan of Riemer & Braunstein, who was representing the company, said the restaurant is meant to be a unique dining experience for customers.

“It’s a fun and exciting experience, customers can cook at their tables with these state of the art smokeless grills,” he said.

The restaurant has 102 seats, with a grill built into each table.
