Jersey Mike’s Subs Announces Burlington Location Off of Middlesex Turnpike

A popular and quickly-expanding fast food chain has set its sights on a Burlington location that it said in a statement it will be occupying “soon.”

Jersey Mike’s Subs announced it will be setting up shop at 50 Summit Drive off of Middlesex Turnpike though hasn’t yet announced an exact opening date.

The restaurant was first founded in 1956 in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey, as a single stand-alone location known as Mike’s Submarines. The franchise as it is now known started in 1975 by then 17-year-old Peter Cancro who raised funds to purchase the existing neighborhood sandwich shop that was put up for sale after nearly 20 years of business. Cancros is still CEO of the company, which now has over 2,000 locations in the United States and three in Australia and two in Canada.

Locally there are locations in Bedford, Dedham and Saugus and there are a total of 20 restaurants in the state.

The restaurant features a variety of both hot and cold subs with a focus on making everything to order and using only fresh ingredients that are locally sourced when possible. A popular way to top off a sandwich with condiments is to order it “Mike’s Way”, which involves sliced onions, shredded lettuce, tomatoes, oregano, salt and “The Juice”—a mixture of red wine vinegar and olive oil.
