JulieAnne’s Bakery & Cafe Coming to Shoppes at Simonds Park

There will soon be a new place in Burlington to grab a cup of coffee with some home-baked treats.

JulieAnne’s Bakery & Cafe was recently approved for a special permit by the Planning Board at their June 5 meeting and will be opening at The Shoppes at Simonds Park.

The bakery is the life-long dream of Burlington resident and People Helping People Senior Pantry Manager Julie Lewis. Lewis has worked in food service management throughout her career and is a graduate of the Cambridge School Culinary of Arts’ Professional Baking & Pastry Program.

Lewis plans to serve a wide-array of sweet and savory items, including pies with homemade crust and fillings, cookies, brownies, cupcakes, cakes and breakfast pastries. While she loves baking, she will be hiring some helping hands in the kitchen.

“I plan to hire 2-3 part-time bakers at the start. I have people that I’ve worked with in the past that are interested. While I love rolling up my sleeves and just being in the kitchen all day I know when you’re running a business you can’t just do that so I plan to have a team on board.”

Lewis says the location at The Shoppes at Simonds Park is what really helped bring her vision to life.

“It was really the location that made me feel like this is possible. It’s such a good location. That plaza doesn’t have a cafe in it. It’s on the residential side of town. I’m hoping a lot of people want to come and linger there with their families.”

“I love Burlington. I’ve lived in several different towns in my life. The feeling here in Burlington, the culture, the economy, the spirit is just special. I love living here, I’m so proud to be raising my family here, and I’m just over-the-moon excited to be opening a cafe in Burlington.”

Construction on JulieAnne’s Bakery & Cafe is expected to begin very soon at The Shoppes at Simonds Park, with a projected opening date in October or November later this year. You can follow their Facebook page for further updates.
