State Representative Ken Gordon has been named Legislator of the Year by the Massachusetts Association of School Committees, recognizing his work on education issues at the state level.
The honor was acknowledged during a recent Burlington School Committee meeting, where members took time to recognize Gordon’s continued advocacy for public education and his work on behalf of local districts.
Superintendent Dr. Eric Conti highlighted several areas where Gordon has been actively involved, including efforts to improve literacy instruction and student reading outcomes across Massachusetts. Conti also pointed to Gordon’s work around the impact of cell phones on students. He also highlighted efforts to address rising costs facing school districts, particularly in transportation and special education.
At the local level, Conti noted Gordon’s support in securing funding through a supplemental state budget to replace a failed generator at Memorial Elementary School.
Conti also emphasized Gordon’s accessibility and willingness to engage directly with educators, including recent meetings with area superintendents to hear concerns and explore solutions. During the meeting, Conti praised Gordon’s work, and Gordon thanked the committee for the recognition.

The Legislator of the Year award is given annually to recognize elected officials who demonstrate a strong commitment to advancing education policy and supporting public schools.
