(Virtual Program) BPL Chess Club – Tuesday, November 2 at 7pm
Test your skills with a friendly afternoon of virtual chess. Join us on Zoom and play on your computer or mobile device as we bring the BPL Chess Club online using lichess.org. Play single games against other players or join the 50-minute tournament. Registration is required. (Virtual Program) The Art of the Scandal: Thefts, Vandals and Forgeries – Thursday, November 4 at 7pm
Join Jane Oneail as she explores some of the most brazen criminal acts in the art world and features works by artists including da Vinci, Michelangelo and Rembrandt. Learn more about works that were targeted and how they were recovered and restored for our enjoyment today. Generously sponsored by the Friends of the Burlington Public Library. Free and open to all.

Friends Fall Book Sale
The Friends of the Burlington Public Library are hosting their Fall Book Sale on:
Friday, November 5 from 10:15am – 5:30pm
Saturday, November 6 from 10:15am – 4:30pm
Sunday, November 7 (Buy a Bag Day) from 1:15pm – 3:30pm

Thousands of used (and some new!) books, audiobooks and DVDs available for sale for $1 each, Children’s paperback books are two for $1. Sunday is “Buy a Bag” day, for $5 you get a bag and can fill it up to the top. That’s a LOT of books! Free Blood Pressure Screening at Burlington Public Library Thursday October 28, 6:30–7:30 p.m.
Burlington Public Library will be holding a free blood pressure screening on Thursday October 28 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Blood Pressure screenings are a collaboration of the Burlington Board of Health, the Burlington Volunteer Reserve Corps., and the Burlington Public Library. You will receive a card to track your progress.

Seasonal Affective Disorder Lamps Available for check out at Burlington Public Library
Summer is over and shorter days are here, but there’s no need to be SAD. Burlington Public Library has the remedy. We have Bright Light Therapy Lamps to borrow. YOUTH SERVICES PROGRAMS

PROGRAMS

Pumpkin Decoration – Thursday, October 28th at 6:30pm
For children and families. Bring your own pumpkin and we will supply all the non-carving decorating supplies! Registration opens one week before the event.

Preschool Science – Friday, October 29th at 11am
Enjoy fun and educational science. Registration opens one week before event, for caregivers with children ages 3-6.

Halloween Party – Saturday, October 30th at 11am
Join us for trick-or-treating, games, and Halloween crafts! Signups begin one week before event, all ages are welcome.

Daffodil Planting – Monday, November 1 st at 3:30pm
Join Miss Ariel on the library front lawn as we create our children’s garden and learn about bulb planting. For ages 7-11. Registration begins on October 25 th .

Make & Take Dinosaur Craft – Friday, November 5 th 10am – 5:30pm
It’s DINOVEMBER! A whole month of dinosaur fun. To kick us off, we’ll be having a make and take dinosaur coloring craft in the children’s room. Stop by to complete it, search for our dinosaur mascot, and learn about other exciting dinosaur programs happening throughout the month of November. No registration necessary.

 

STORYTIMES

Toddler Storytime – Tuesdays and Wednesdays at 10:30am
For caregivers with children ages 18-36 months.
Interact with your toddler to nurture a love of books.

Afternoon Storytime – Tuesdays at 3:30pm
Best for ages 3-8.
If you can’t join us for storytime in the mornings, you can enjoy stories, songs, and fun in the afternoons! 

Preschool Storytime – Wednesdays at 11am
For caregivers with children ages 3-6 years.
Help your preschooler get ready to read! Enjoy stories together!

Please note: Caregivers are expected to stay with children during all storytime sessions.
