Letter to the Editor: A Parent’s Support for Jeremy Brooks

The following is a letter to the editor and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of BNEWS.

To the Voters of Burlington,

My name is Julie D’Angelo, and I am a Burlington parent and a mom of kids in the Burlington Public Schools. I am not a politician. I am not a community official. I am just a parent who pays close attention to who is sitting at that table making decisions about my children’s education, and I am writing because I want you to know why Jeremy Brooks has earned my trust and my vote.

Like a lot of parents, I had a concern about my child’s school experience but was not sure who to turn to or whether anyone would take it seriously. I reached out to Jeremy directly, not really expecting much. He responded promptly, took the time to understand my concern, and followed up more than once to make sure it was being addressed. He made me feel like my voice mattered, even though I never had to walk into a single meeting to be heard. That kind of accessibility means everything to a busy parent.

What I have come to appreciate about Jeremy is that he approaches every issue with the kids at the center of the conversation. He does his homework. He shows up prepared. And when things get contentious, as they sometimes do, he stays focused on what matters most: the students in our schools and the families supporting them.

Beyond the meetings, Jeremy is a visible and active presence in this community. You see him at events, at youth activities, and out supporting the organizations that make Burlington a wonderful place to raise a family. He is not just a name on a ballot. He is a neighbor who genuinely cares about this town.

Our kids deserve someone in that seat who shows up for them, not just on election day, but every single day after. Jeremy Brooks does exactly that.

Please vote to re-elect Jeremy Brooks to the Burlington School Committee on or before April 11th. Our kids are worth it.

Sincerely,

Julie D’Angelo
Burlington Parent and Resident
