Letter to the Editor: Candidate for Town Meeting David Alper

The following is a letter to the editor:

I am both humbled and proud to be submitting my name for the position of Town Meeting Member of Precinct One here in Burlington, and am asking my neighbors for their support and vote on April 1st.
I am a relatively new resident, having moved to town after living and worked in nearby Belmont for 36 years. While living in town, I served as a Town Meeting member for 32 years, as well as an elected member of the Board of Health for 30 years (serving as Chair for much of that time). Because of my time served, I feel that I bring extensive experience in how Town government works, how budgets are written and used, and the roles that staff, department heads, elected officials and Town Meeting members have in order to work together to see a town run well.
I am eager to bring this experience and my strong desire to serve to Burlington and our Town Meeting.
Moving here after retirement, I had my own medical practice in Belmont as a podiatrist for 36 years. I now live on Patriot Road, across from Rahanis Soccer fields, with my wife of 32 years, Pam, and one of my three children, my daughter Megan, and our wonderful dog, our Shih Tzu Gizmo.
After two years, I continue to enjoy learning more and more about my new home Town of Burlington, and of course my neighbors and new friends. I have lived my life believing that, if you want to live in a good place, you have to contribute to it. Serving in Town Meeting, to me, is an excellent way to use my experience and skills to contribute, ad I hope you will give me the opportunity to do so. Please consider me for one of your votes for Town Meeting Member on April 1st.
Thank you. I look forward to meeting you in the near future!
