The following is a letter to the editor and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of BNEWS.
The Burlington Democratic Town Committee is proud to publicly announce after DTC monthly meeting, Wednesday, October 23rd, the DTC members voted unanimously, endorsing the following 2024 Ballot Questions!
QUESTION 1: Law Proposed by Initiate Petition – STATE AUDITOR’S AUTHORITY to AUDIT the LEGISLATURE. The Burlington DTC endorsed a YES vote, giving authorization of the State Auditor to audit the Massachusetts Legislature.
QUESTION 2: Law Proposed by Initiate Petition – ELIMINATION OF MCAS as HIGH SCHOOL GRADUATION REQUIREMENT. The Burlington DTC endorsed a YES vote, giving authorization to eliminate the requirement students pass the Massachusetts Comprehensive Assessment System commonly known as (MCAS) in order to graduate high school but still require students to complete coursework that meets state standards.
QUESTION 4: Law Proposed by Initiative Petition – LIMITED LEGALIZATION and REGULATION of CERTAIN NATURAL PSYCHEDELIC SUBSTANCES. The Burlington DTC endorsed a YES vote, allowing persons over the age of 21 to use certain natural psychedelic substances under licensed supervision and to grow and possess limited quantities of those substances in their home, and would create a commission to regulate those substances.
