The following is a letter to the editor and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of BNEWS. 

To the Voters of Burlington,

My name is Steve Dupuis, and some of you know me as Commander of the American Legion and Assistant Coach of the Jr. Devils Football program. I am writing to you today as a fellow veteran and a proud member of this community to urge you to re-elect Jeremy Brooks to the Burlington School Committee.

I first met Jeremy in 2020 when he returned to Burlington. We both retired from military service at about the same time, but I was lucky enough to be stationed here my last years of service and immerse myself in the Burlington community. From the moment he came back, he made it clear that he intended to be a contributing member of this town, not just a resident of it. He quickly became an active and valued member of our veteran community, joining the Legion and stepping up to serve as our Secretary, and taking on the role of Sergeant at Arms for the Legion Riders. Those roles require reliability, attention to detail, and a genuine commitment to the organization. Jeremy brings all of that, and then some.

What strikes me most about Jeremy is that I see him everywhere. He is not someone who shows up for the photo opportunity and then disappears. Whether it is a Legion charity event, a local fundraiser, or a youth organization activity, Jeremy is there, sleeves rolled up, ready to help. That kind of consistent community presence speaks louder than any campaign flyer.

As a veteran, I know the value of someone who leads with integrity and serves without expectation of recognition. Jeremy embodies those values. He gives his time generously, shows up when it counts, and genuinely cares about the people around him. Those are exactly the qualities we need representing our families on the Burlington School Committee.

Our children deserve leaders who are rooted in this community and invested in its future. Jeremy Brooks is that leader. He has earned this community’s trust, and he has earned your vote.

Please make your voice heard on or before April 11th and vote to re-elect Jeremy Brooks to the Burlington School Committee.
