Letter To The Editor: In Support of Hillary Kleck for School Committee

The following is a letter to the editor and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of BNEWS.

I first met Hillary Kleck through her advocacy for accessibility at Burlington High School, and I was immediately struck by her conviction and the clarity of her communication. While she is deeply committed to ensuring our schools are accessible to every student, I have come to realize that her vision for Burlington is grounded in something much broader: evidence-based leadership.

In this election, we have the chance to elect a School Committee member who brings a rare combination of high-level technical skills and lived experience. As a data scientist, Hillary doesn’t make decisions based on assumptions. She brings an analytical rigor to decision-making, using data to tell a clear story of where our district stands and where it needs to go. Whether it’s analyzing enrollment trends or coding a Braille learning app when a tool didn’t exist for her child, Hillary is a problem-solver who uses technology to bridge gaps.

As a parent of students at both Fox Hill and the Perkins School for the Blind, Hillary offers a unique perspective on our local schools and the special education system. She understands that the School Committee’s responsibility is to ensure the district welcomes and empowers all learners. To Hillary, inclusion is a functional requirement for a successful modern school district that prepares students for a global, digital workforce.

What Burlington needs right now is a School Committee member who can navigate the complexities of our district’s future. Hillary supports a more thoughtful budget review framework that prioritizes student outcomes, staffing, enrollment trends, equity and access, operational needs, financial sustainability, and transparency.

Hillary Kleck has the data-driven mindset to manage a complex budget and the integrity to work on behalf of every family. She understands that a school district’s success is measured by the outcomes of all its students. I urge you to join me in voting for Hillary Kleck for Burlington School Committee.
