The following is a letter to the editor and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of BNEWS. 

Dear Editor:

I am pleased to submit this letter of endorsement on behalf of Katherine Bond, who is running for re-election for one of two open seats on the Burlington School Committee.

Over her first two terms, Katherine has worked tirelessly on behalf of the Burlington Public Schools System. She was a strong supporter of the four elementary school model and devoted countless hours to the Fox Hill School Building Project.

In addition, Katherine devoted extensive time and energy to the Burlington High School renovation/new construction project, helping to develop an excellent plan to renovate and expand the existing structure in a way that would have minimal impact on student learning while the project was being constructed.

The final design creates a new structure that would meet the needs of educating and preparing Burlington students for life in this new age of innovation and technology. In my view, only the lack of funding assistance from the School Building Assistance Bureau prevented this excellent project from moving forward in 2026.

Katherine’s experience in this regard will be of great benefit to the committee going forward, as the issues with the Burlington High School structure remain and must be addressed.

I strongly encourage all voters to cast one of their two votes for Katherine Bond in this year’s spring elections on April 11.
