Dear editor, neighbors and friends:
I am writing to express my support for Melissa Massardo for School Committee. Melissa was the only candidate on the ballot to reach out and call me (along with all of the town officials) unsolicited. I think this was a very impressive first impression and it opened a dialogue between us. One of the things I have been trying to do is be a better communicator, as it is so important that everyone in town government communicate and work together. Melissa already has that skill.
Since that call, I have gotten to know Melissa. She is intelligent, dedicated, driven and truly has Burlington’s best interests at heart. I also got to meet her family (her husband Dan and two young sons Miles and Carson) at one of the BHS basketball games. With two young children (one in Burlington schools and one about to enter), she has a vested interest in our educational system. Furthermore, her project management and budget oversight experience from her work in the private sector will serve her well in working through the issues all our schools face.
She has all the qualities I would hope for in a member of our School Committee. If you spend five minutes with Melissa, you can easily deduce that she loves and wants the very best for Burlington. She listens, is open to all sides of an argument, is sensitive to diversity issues, would make a wonderful advocate for the schoolchildren of Burlington and would be a great addition to our School Committee.
Please join me in supporting Melissa with one of your two votes for School Committee on April 9th.
Sincerely,
Mike Espejo
