Medical Reserve Corps Emergency Response Presentation on March 29

Interested members of the public are invited to attend a meeting of the Burlington Volunteer Reserve Corps (BVRC) on Wednesday, March 29 at 6:00 pm.  There will be a presentation by Sara Schaffer, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator for the Brookline Health Department on how the Brookline MRC assisted during an emergency evacuation of a community housing complex on New Year’s Eve.

The BVRC is a volunteer organization whose members are ready to provide assistance to the Burlington Community in the event of an emergency, such as widespread power outages, pandemic disease outbreaks, or severe weather emergencies.  BVRC members participate in trainings, exercises, and drills to become better prepared for emergency situations.  In addition, BVRC members provide assistance to the Board of Health for public health initiatives such as flu clinics, household hazardous waste collections, and blood pressure screenings.

Please join us on March 29 at 6 pm at the Murray Kelly Wing, Human Services Building, 61 Center Street for this interesting presentation and to learn more about the BVRC.   Please RSVP to 781-270-1955 or boh@burlington.org.  If you are unable to attend and are interested in finding our more about the BVRC, please call the Board of Health at 781-270-1955 or email boh@burlington.org.
