Interested members of the public are invited to attend a meeting of the Burlington Volunteer Reserve Corps (BVRC) on Wednesday, March 26 at 6:00 p.m. There will be a free presentation by Maria Ruggiero, Prevention Program Manager for the Tewksbury Police Department, and Juliana Blodgett, MPH, Community Outreach Worker for the Tri-ton Coalition, on the Opioid Epidemic and Narcan training for interested members of the public. Free Naloxone (NARCAN) kits will be available to the public after the training.
The BVRC is a volunteer organization whose members are ready to provide assistance to the Burlington Community in the event of an emergency, such as widespread power outages, pandemic disease outbreaks, or severe weather emergencies. BVRC members participate in trainings, exercises, and drills to become better prepared for emergency situations. In addition, BVRC members provide assistance to the Board of Health for public health initiatives such as flu clinics, household hazardous waste collections, and blood pressure screenings.
All are welcome to attend on March 26 at 6 p.m. at the Grand View Farm, 55 Center Street for this interesting presentation and to learn more about the BVRC. Please RSVP to 781-270-1955 or boh@burlington.org. If you are unable to attend and are interested in finding out more about the BVRC, please call the Board of Health at 781-270-1955 or email boh@burlington.org.
