Middle School Principal Cari Perchase To Leave BPS

Dr. Cari Perchase, who has been principal of Marshall Simonds Middle School for six years, has announced she is leaving for a new role as Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning in Bellingham.

“It has been an incredible journey working alongside a team of devoted educators and staff members who have consistently demonstrated their commitment to the success and well-being of our students,” Perchase said. “As faculty and staff, we worked together to improve the middle school experience.”

Perchase added she’s proud of the work of the school community during the COVID-19 pandemic and is committed to working to ensure a seamless transition of leadership.

“I want to express my heartfelt thanks to everyone who has supported me during my time here. I have learned so much from my experiences over the past six years,” she said. “Marshall Simonds Middle School and the Burlington community will always have a special place in my heart.”

Superintendent of Schools Dr. Eric Conti offered Perchase his congratulations at the April 9 School Committee meeting. “It’s always an honor when someone who has worked with you moves on in their career,” he said. “I just take such pride in her achievement. So I wanted to wish her well and say thank you.”

Conti said a full search for Perchase’s replacement will be conducted.
