Music Department Students Experience Orlando

The Burlington High School Music Department traveled to Orlando, Florida in April  to represent Burlington in the Worldstrides Orlando Heritage Festival at Universal Studios. Fifty-nine Burlington High School students performed for panels of expert judges, competing in the Concert Chorus and String Orchestra ensemble divisions (led by BHS music teacher, Beth Holmgren) as well as Concert Band (led by BHS music teacher, Tim Ketterer).

In addition to performing, all student groups received coaching and instructional feedback from the expert panelists – exploring new techniques, strategies and musical insights. Burlington High School’s excellent performances were rewarded with Silver Awards in each ensemble category. Two BHS students were individually

recognized with WorldStrides Maestro Awards: Outstanding Student Accompanist for Esther Ma and Outstanding Choral Soloist for Sienna Silva.

The next performance by the BHS Concert Band, Concert Chorus and String Orchestra is their Pops Concert on Thursday, May 23, 2024.
