The Select Board recently approved the appointments of a new Building Inspector and Human Resources Director for the town.
Martin Allen has been conditionally appointed to the position of Senior Building Inspector. Town Administrator John Danizio informed the board Allen has had extensive experience in construction, both on the contractor side and the inspector side. Allen has worked for, or owned his own construction company for over 30 years. He has also been a municipal building inspector for 15 years, the last five with Burlington.
Danizio explained the reason for the ‘conditional’ appointment is that, once appointed, Allen has 18 months to secure the licensure for the position.
For many years Joanne Faust served as Burlington’s overall Human Resource Director, for both the municipality and schools. Town Meeting voted to separate the HR responsibilities and Faust moved to the School Department. Reginald “Reggie” Nichols has been appointed the new HR Director on the town side. Nichols holds a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and is certified by the Society for Human Resource Management. He has served as the Executive Director of Human Resources at Roxbury Community College, leading collective bargaining, performance management and recruitment. Prior to Roxbury Nichols was at Middlesex Community College leading labor relations and recruitment initiatives.
Both positions were unanimously approved by the Select Board.
