Savvas Spyridopoulos, the beloved boss of Burlington Famous Pizza, has passed away. Family-owned and operated since 1987, the shop grew into a community gathering place, known as much for its warmth and hospitality as it was for its food, and cherished by loyal customers.

Savvas was born on December 16, 1950, in Alonia Pierias, Greece. From an early age, he was a devout and faithful child of Christ and lived his life caring deeply for those around him. Known for lending a helping hand whenever it was needed, he was passionate about putting others before himself and made it his life’s mission to help all who crossed his path.

He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Macedonia “Aristoteleio.” In 1972, Savvas immigrated to the United States, driven by love for his family and a deep sense of responsibility to provide them with a bright future. Savvas believed that knowledge was a gift meant to be shared. He used his education to serve others through tireless work, sacrifice, and perseverance, he built a beautiful life of dignity as a Mechanical Engineer and Business owner.

Burlington’s Famous Pizza announced his passing in a heartfelt post shared on the restaurant’s Facebook page.

“With heavy hearts, we share the passing of our beloved father, Savvas — the man we all know and love, and the heart and mind behind the creation and operation of Burlington Famous Pizza.

For decades, Savvas was the familiar presence standing proudly behind the counter, dedicating his life to serving everyone who walked through the doors of 167 Bedford Street. Forty years ago, Savvas, alongside his wife Maria, opened the doors of Famous and created not just a business, but a warm and welcoming place that felt like home to so many.

His warm smile, generous heart, and unwavering dedication to his family and community will be deeply missed, but never forgotten. His legacy lives on in every memory, every shared meal, and every life he touched.
May his memory be eternal.”

Following the post, hundreds of customers and community members shared messages of condolence, remembering Savvas for his infectious smile, amazing food, and kind spirit.
