Parks & Recreation Hires New Office Assistant

The Burlington Recreation Commission held a brief meeting on Monday, September 13 to appoint a new office assistant after a longtime employee recently retired.

As reported on BNEWS, in August Nancy Santilli retired from the department after 21 years with the Parks & Recreation Department requiring a new person to fill the position.

Last week department head Brendan Egan recommended the commission appoint Patricia LaFauci to the job after a candidate search that landed a good number of applications.

Egan said LaFacui worked for the Star Market group since high school and has done a little bit of everything for the company from bookkeeping to Human Resources to managing the store. He added that she stood out from the first interview the department had with her.

“Patricia stood out from the first interview she did with us,” he said. “She is an excellent candidate and her experience and skill best match the qualifications for this position. Her references were glowing – they all said they did not want to lose her. She’s very talented and that came through in her first interview so we’re very excited. It will be hard to replace Nancy with all her experience and knowledge of the position but I think we’re making a very good decision here.”

The Commission voted unanimously to appoint LaFacui to the position.
