The Select Board recently approved a one-day liquor license for a People Helping People (PHP) beer and spirit tasting fundraiser “Summerfest – Pours for a Purpose”.
PHP President Elizabeth Trowbridge and Vice President Kim Trainor informed the board proceeds would go to the food pantry and other PHP programs. The event is taking place at the Grand View Farm Thursday, July 24, 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. and will feature a variety of beer and spirits stations as well as raffles, food and non-alcoholic options.
The “Summerfest – Pours for a Purpose” is just one of the People Helping People fundraising efforts. PHP Executive Director Jim Sheridan and Burlington Food Pantry Assistant Abby Hurd were in the BCAT studio June 24 for the Sizzling Summer Raffle drawing. Winners were pulled live on BCAT and BCAT’s Facebook page. The raffle fundraiser brought in roughly $1,500 according to Sheridan.
Also coming up in September is the Burlington Feud. A Family Feud styled fundraiser featuring teams from different organizations in town. Last year contestants, and the audience, had a blast at the event that raised about $9,500. Sheridan said their fundraising goal for this year’s Burlington Feud is $12,000.
