Planet Fitness Donates Equipment To BPS

The Burlington School Committee on Tuesday voted to accept a donation of exercise equipment from a Planet Fitness franchise that is moving out of its spot at 40 Ray Ave next to the Ice Palace.

“There’s some very expensive, very nice equipment that we could use to replace some of our equipment, both at the Middle School and the High School,” said Superintendent Dr. Eric Conti. “We’re utilizing a moving company, so there will be some expense, but the donations are much more than the expense of moving the equipment.”

“The amount of equipment we’re getting and the cost of that equipment will be super beneficial to the School Department, so we’re very happy for the donation,” said Director of Operations Bob Cunha.

The Planet Fitness operators reached out to the School Department and Athletic Director Bob Hart, and gave them a list of available equipment. The district went through the list and accepted what would be beneficial and turned down unnecessary equipment. BCAT has reached out for a list of the equipment to be transferred to Burlington Schools; this story will be updated when that information is available. The delivery is expected later this month.
