The Burlington Planning Board continued its public hearing on a proposed expansion at Plaza 62, located at 85 Wilmington Road.
The proposal calls for the redevelopment and expansion of the existing plaza, with the applicant now proposing an approximately 13,900-square-foot addition. Representatives for the applicant said the revised plan removes a previously proposed second building along Wilmington Road and includes updates to parking, circulation, drainage, landscaping and lighting.
Board members raised several concerns during the hearing, including traffic safety near Wilmington Road and Prouty Road, parking, lighting, dumpster locations, pedestrian safety, sight lines, stormwater drainage and the impact on nearby residents.
Residents also spoke during the public comment portion of the hearing, with many focusing on traffic, neighborhood safety, quality of life and the proposed building’s proximity to surrounding homes.
The board voted to request a traffic peer review and continued the hearing to its July 16 meeting. BNEWS has compiled highlights from the discussion, which can be viewed below.
