The September 3rd Election is a State Primary. Voters will be voting for Federal and State offices that then will go on the ballot in the November Presidential Election. The only office that will NOT be on the September ballot will be for the office of President and Vice President. For a list of candidates for the September Primary you can go to www.Burlington.org, click on the Elections & Voting button. This will allow you to check your Voter status and see the list of candidates. If you are an Unenrolled or “Independent” voter you will have to pick a ballot for this Election.
We are excited to announce that all registered voters will be able to vote before Election Day if you wish to. If you have already requested a Vote by Mail ballot for the September Primary, the ballot will be coming out to you in the next few days. When you receive it and have voted, you can either mail it back to the office in the prepaid envelope or drop it in the ballot drop box in front of Town Hall. Please remember if you are mailing it back that it may take up to 10 days, per the Post Office, for the ballot to get to us. So mail it back early.
Early in Person voting will begin in the Clerk’s Office starting soon and will continue through August 30th. The hours for voting will be during regular business hours which are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 8:30 AM-4:30 PM; Wednesday 8:30AM-7 PM and Friday 8:30 AM-1 PM. On August 30th we will be open until 5 PM for voting.
Finally if you want to prefer, Election Day voting will be on September 3rd, at the Burlington High School Gym. The Polls will be open 7 AM to 8 PM on election day.
Regardless of whether a voter wants to take advantage of early voting, vote by mail or vote on Election Day, the first step is making sure you are registered. To check to see if you are registered to vote, and to find information on how to register to vote, you may visit the Secretary of the Commonwealth’s website: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR.
