Red Devil Fall Sports: Red Devil Football Falls Short to Wilmington, Volleyball Back in Win Column

RED DEVIL FOOTBALL LOSES CLOSE ONE IN WILMINGTON

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL GET BACK TO BACK WINS
Lady Devils Volleyball have fallen to 8-4 after two wins in the Middlesex League to Wilmington, 3-0, on Oct. 2 and Arlington, 3-1, on Oct. 6 The team fell short of a win over Belmont, 3-2, on Oct. 6. Burlington visited the 9-2 Woburn Tanners on Oct. 10. where they had a 3-0 win in the sets, moving the record to 9-4. 

GIRLS SOCCER TIE WITH WILMINGTON 
Lady Devils Soccer is 5-5-1 after a tied 1-1 game over Wilmington on Oct. 3. with junior Kim Ochoa scoring the goal. They were shutout 0-3 in both Arlington on Oct. 5 and Belmont Oct 9. 0-3. The girls will be at Woburn Memorial on Oct. 11. 

BOYS SOCCER REMAINS WINLESS
The Red Devils Soccer team are now 0-12 after a 0-2 loss with Wilmington on Oct. 3 and a 1-2 loss over Arlington on Oct 5. Younes Hennechie scored the scored for the Devils in the game against Arlington.  the The Devils had two games over the long weekend against Methuen, 0-1 on Oct. 7. and Belmont, 0-3 on Oct. 9.  Burlington will host Woburn on Oct. 11. at the Marshall Simonds Middle School. 

FIELD HOCKEY LOSE TO ARLINGTON AND BELMONT
Lady Devils Field Hockey are 2-8 after two losses over Arlington on Oct. 2, 0-2, and Belmont, 1-7, on Oct. 5.

Burlington had a huge 7-0 shutout win over Woburn at  Connolly Memorial Field on Oct. 10. Goals in the game were made by: senior captain Mia Lauder (2), sophomore Sloane Wilson (2) and senior captain Renee LeComte (3).

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY LOSE TO WILMINGTON
The Lady Devils Cross Country team are 0-4 after a loss to the Wildcats. Wilmington scored 28 points, while the Devils scored 77. Here were the results of the meet:

6th place: Kayla Mackie, 24:11
9th place: Ellery Schwoebel, 27:16
13th place: Mahi Kansagra, 36:37

 

Lady Devils will be at Varsity Field against Watertown High School on Oct. 17. 

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY WIN IN WILMINGTON
The Red Devils Cross Country team are 2-2 after a 24-32 win against the Wilmington Wildcats on Oct. 3. Burlington scored 24 points, while the Wildcats scored 32. Here were the first five athletes that finished the race: 

1st place: Colin Irwin, 17:06
2nd place: Krish Almeida, 17:16
4th place: Rohan Dutta, 17:41
6th place: Roy Kanyike, 18:18
11th place: Jayden Lamoretti, 19:32

BOYS GOLF LOSE BACK TO BACK MATCHES
The Red Devil Golf team is 1-10 after a 56 to 1 loss to Winchester on Oct. 3. The team was in Lexington the next day, where they had another loss of 45 to 27.  The Arlington Spy Ponders defeated the Devils on Oct. 6, 44-28. 

Burlington finishes the regular season at the Hillview Golf Course in Wilmington on Oct. 11. 

GIRLS SWIMMING LOSE BACK TO BACK MEETS
The Woburn and Burlington combined swim team is 1-3 after a 88-82 loss against the Reading Rockets on Sept. 27.  On Sept. 29 the girls lost to Lexington 93 to 72. The 400 free relay team of Ryley McCarthy, Sarah Herbst, Ava Eldridge and Kayleigh McCarthy qualified for States with a time of 4:12. 

Belmont will be the next opponent on Oct. 11.
