The Devils will face the Wakefield Warriors on Friday, October 4 at 6 p.m.

SOCCER TEAMS DEFEAT STONEHAM ON TOWN NIGHT
Both the boys and girls soccer teams scored big wins against the Stoneham Spartans on Town Night, wins made especially big because the players’ younger compatriots were there to cheer them on. The girls shut out the Spartans 6-0, while the boys eked out a 2-1 victory over the away team. Ellie Matarazzo and Savanna Scali each scored two goals for the girls; Kim Ochoa and Caitlin Tremblay each scored one; Rohan Dutta and Simone Pastore each scored once for the boys.

Girls head coach Daniella DeSousa said the wins were extra special with the younger fans in attendance. “I think it’s extra special for the seniors too,” she continued. “Okay, I am at the top of my Burlington career now, but definitely I was seven one time kicking the ball around. So that’s what makes it extra special.”

As the next generation of athletes came to see the varsity stars on center stage, seniors Caitlin Tremblay of girls soccer and Sean Torpey of boys soccer reminisce their times at that age.

“It is kind of like a full circle moment. I grew up playing and I started coming to the games and being a ball girl,” said senior Caitlin Tremblay. “Being someone that someone else can look up to I think is very special and heartwarming.”

“I hope they get the motivation to see us and keep on wanting to play,” said senior Sean Torpey of the younger players. ” I just hope they can stick with it till high school and make BHS a pretty competitive school.”

GIRLS VOLLEYBALL ON THREE-GAME WINNING STREAK
Lady Devils Volleyball have improved to 6-4 after victories over Stoneham, 3-0, on September 24 and Belmont, 3-1 on September 26. Burlington will face Woburn Memorial at home on September 30 and will travel to Watertown on October 2.
