The Red Devils finished their season at 7-1 and will compete in the D4 MIAA Playoffs after a shutout win against Watertown on Senior Night.
Quarterback Anthony Gerrior shone with three touchdowns and 200 passing yards. In the first quarter, running back J.T. Doherty started off the Devils offense on the right foot with a 26-yard touchdown and a successful two-point conversion, bringing the score to 8-0 right out of the gate. In the second quarter, Gerrior and wide receiver Ryan Brooks worked their signature connection with two touchdown receptions, one a 21-yarder and the other a nine-yarder, bringing the score to 20-0 at the half.
Doherty scored his second touchdown of the evening in the third quarter from one yard out, 26-0. The Devils defense stepped up big time as they kept Watertown out of the end zone throughout the evening. Gerrior found wide receiver Matt Conte for a 1-yard touchdown late in the fourth quarter, for a final score of 33-0 after the extra point. Kicker Arthur De Barros missed three extra point attempts during the evening; he was successful on his last.
The Devils will face off against Wayland high School in the D4 playoffs Round of 32, which is scheduled for Friday, November 8 at 6 p.m. Wayland’s record for the season is also 7-1.
