BOYS BASKETBALL LEAD MIDDLESEX FREEDOM DIVISION
Boys Basketball were also on the road this past week against Melrose, and then a home against Wakefield. Burlington had a 63-48 victory against Melrose on February 4. Top scorers were Matt Gray with 20 points, Anthony Gerrior with 14 and Krish Soni with 8. It didn’t stop there, as Burlington defeated Wakefield 68-52 at home on February 7. Top scorers in this game were Matt Gray with 13 points, Cole Shannon with 13, and Ryan Ellis with 10.
Burlington is currently 11-5 and will be on the road in Wilmington on Tuesday night and return home Thursday for Senior Night against Stoneham. The Devils are leading the Middlesex League Freedom Division, behind them are the 11-6 Wilmington Wildcats, and the 10-6 Watertown Red Raiders in third.
GIRLS BASKETBALL LOSE BACK-TO-BACK FOUR-POINT GAMES
The girls basketball team had two games last week, with a game on the road in Melrose last Tuesday, and a home game with Wakefield last Friday. Burlington lost in a close match to Melrose 43-47. The top scorers were Ava Sicari with 9 points, Merin Jones with 9, Erin Reilly with 8 and Sarah Marshall with 6. Last Friday the ladies lost another four point game to Wakefield at home 31-35. Top scorers in the game were Merin Jones with 7 points and Zarah Ochi with 7.
Burlington is currently 9-8 and will be on the road this week against Wilmington on Tuesday, and then a home game against Stoneham on Thursday. There are three games remaining in the regular season. The Devils are third in the Middlesex Freedom League Division, with the 14-3 Wakefield Warriors in first, and the 10-7 Watertown Raiders in second.
READING HANDS GIRLS GYMNASTICS FIRST LOSS
Girls Gymnastics finished the regular season on the road against the Reading Rockets last Wednesday evening. The Rockets defeated the now 7-1 Devils by a close score of 135-142. Burlington will be hosting the Middlesex League Championship on Monday Night.
DEVILS WRESTLING COMPETE IN A QUAD MEET IN WALTHAM
Burlington Wrestling competed in a quad meet against Bishop Fenwick/Northeast Vocational, Southwick and Waltham on February 8. The Devils went 2-3 in the quad meet, winning 48-25 against Bishop Fenwick/Northeast Voc, 40-34 against Waltham and losing to Southwick 34-47.
Max Shvartsman (113 wt. class), Kai Gong (126 wt. class), Lukas Abreu (138 wt. class) Cameron Bonnell (144 wt. class) Devin Prajapati (150 wt. class) Connor McElroy (157 wt. class) Davi Tonani (165 wt. class) and Chris O’ Divin (175 wt. class) won their matches against Fenwick/Northeast Vocational.
Shvartsman (106 wt. class), Abreu (132 wt. class), Bonnell (138 wt. class), McElroy (150 wt. class), Emmanick Carrasquillo (165 wt. class) Tonni (175 wt. class) and Noah Nicholson (190 wt. class) won their matches against Waltham.
Shvartsman (106 wt. class), Abreu (138 wt. class), Bonnell (144 wt. class), McElroy (150 wt. class), Josh Leavitt (215 wt. class) and Vivek Patel (285 wt. class) won their matches against Southwick.
Burlington is currently 4-19 and will close out the regular season in Watertown Monday Night.
SHAY WOODBURY COMPETES IN SECTIONALS CHAMPIONSHIP
Red Devil Swimmer Shay Woodbury competed in two events at the North Sectionals Championship on February 9. The first was the 100 Freestyle where he finished in 20th place overall with a time of 51.52 seconds. Shay finished in ninth place in the 100th backstroke with a time of 56.43 seconds. Woodbury will compete at the State Championship scheduled for next Sunday, February 16. Congrats Shay!

GIRLS HOCKEY ON THREE GAME WINNING STREAK
Girls Hockey were on the road last week against Winthrop on February 5, winning in a 7-1 blowout. The goals in the game were scored by Emma Steiner with 5 and Sofia Cleary with 2. It was also a special evening for Senior Captain Caitlyn Tremblay who notched her 150th career point! Congrats Caitlyn. The Devils kept the winning streak going in Melrose on February 8 with a 4-1 win. Chloe Rabazzi and Sofia Cleary each had one goal and Emma Steiner had two goals. Burlington is currently 9-6 with three games remaining, including a Lobster Pot Tournament in Falmouth next week.
The Devils are in second place in the Middlesex League Freedom Division, with the 9-7-1 Melrose Red Raiders in first, and the 5-10-2 Stoneham/Wilmington team in third.
BOYS HOCKEY WIN BACK TO BACK SHUTOUTS
Boys Hockey also faced off against Watertown and Melrose this past week. The Devils were at home against Watertown last Wednesday winning 3-0. James Gordon, Wyatt Condon and Giacomo Berardinelli each scored a goal. Senior Goalie Camden Shanahan reached a milestone of 1500 career saves. Congrats Camden! Burlington was on the road in Melrose this past Saturday, coming away with a close 1-0 score. Aiden Scalia had his first career goal in the win!
The Devils are currently 9-6-1 and will have two games this week against Wakefield at home on Wednesday evening and a trip to Wilmington on Friday night. Burlington sits in second place In the Middlesex Freedom League, with the 11-6 Stoneham Spartans in first, and the 8-8-1 Melrose Red Raiders in third.
TRACK TEAMS COMPETE IN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP
Girls and Boys Indoor Track competed in two meets last week with the Middlesex League Championship on February 3. Here was the top medalist for both teams

The ladies finished in 8th out of 12th place, while the boys came in 8th out of 11th place.
