Red Devil Round Up: Savanna Scali All Time Leading Scorer, Girls Gymnastics Remain Undefeated, Tanners Control Winn Street Bragging Rights Against Hockey Teams

SAVANNA SCALI ALL TIME LEADING SCORER
The girls basketball team had three games last week against Woburn, Winchester and Manchester Essex Regional. Savanna Scali scored 22 points, and became the all time scoring leader in points for the girls program, in the game against Woburn on January 21. Click here to watch our feature. Burlington lost the game against the Tanners 63-36. They had a 51-30 victory over Winchester on January 24. Top scorers in the game were Erin Reilly with 15 points, Savanna Scali with 12, and Madison King with 10. The team had a Sunday afternoon match against Manchester Essex on January 26. Burlington won in a 47-46 thriller thanks to Scali’s three pointer with 10 seconds remaining. Top scorers in the game were Scali with 24 points, Merin Jones with 8, and Ava Sicari with 6 points. Burlington is currently 8-5 and will be on the road this week, against Stoneham on Tuesday, and Watertown on Friday. 

11-1 WINCHESTER DEFEATS BOYS BASKETBALL
Boys Basketball had two matchups this week, against Woburn on the road, and Winchester at home. The Devils had a 63-49 victory over Woburn on January 21. Top scorers in the game were Matt Gray with 31 points, Justin Gray and Anthony Gerrior each had 11 points. The team had their biggest game yet when they played home against the 10-1 Winchester High School on January 23. Burlington was up early entering the fourth quarter, but fell ten points short in the 55-45 defeat. Top scorers in the game were Anthony Gerrior with 15, and Matt Gray with 10. The 8-4 Devils will be on the road this week with matchups against Stoneham on Tuesday, and Watertown on Friday. 

GIRLS GYMNASTICS CELEBRATE SENIOR NIGHT
Girls Gymnastics are at an impressive 6-0 record for this year, after a 132 to 124 win on Senior Night, against Wilmington on January 23. Burlington recognized three seniors that evening: Mia Conlon, Olivia DuBrava and Emelie Kim. This meet was our featured Game of The Week, and can be seen here. 

The team will be on the road this week in Stoneham on Thursday night.

DEVILS WRESTLING COMPETE WITH WOBURN THEN ATTEND TRI-MEET
Burlington Wrestling had four meets this past week, first against Woburn on January 22, and then a tri-meet against Oliver Ames, Silver Lake Regional, and Middleborough on January 24. The Devils lost 58-3 against Woburn on January 22. Burlington went 0-3 in the tri-meet on January 24. Max Schvartman won his matches (106 wt. class) against Middleborough and Silver Lake. Kai Gong (126 wt. class) won his match against Middleborough, and Cameron Bonnell (138 wt. class) won all three of his matches. You can check out the full results for Middleborough, Silver Lake and Oliver Ames. Burlington is currently 3-17, and will be on the road at Keefe Technical on Wednesday evening. 

BOYS SWIMMING COMPETING IN MIDDLESEX CHAMPIONSHIP ON THURSDAY
Red Devil Swimming finished the regular season with a loss to Lexington 92-77 on January 29. Shay Woodbury and Branden Ruiz recorded their fastest times in the 100 freestyle.

100 Freestyle:
Woodbury – 51.77
Ruiz – 59.39 

Arran Fitzgerald and Chase Costa both had their fastest times yet in the 500 freestyle. 

500 Freestyle:
Fitzgerald – 6:16
Costa – 6:45

Burlington finished out the season with a 1-5 record. They will be at Bentley University on Thursday afternoon for the Middlesex League Championship.

GIRLS HOCKEY LOSE BACK TO BACK GAMES
Girls hockey were on the road last week against Belmont on January 22, losing by 1-3. The goal in the game was scored by Sofia Cleary. Burlington returned home on January 25 for The Battle of Winn Street against Woburn. The Woburn Tanners claimed ownership to Winn Street this time, as they defeated the Devils 3-1. Chloe Rabazzi got The Devils on the board with a single goal. Burlington is currently 6-5, and will be on the road in Winchester on Wednesday evening.

BOYS HOCKEY LOST TO BELMONT IN OVERTIME
Boys hockey had two games last week both at home against Belmont on January 22, and Woburn on January 25. In the first game against Belmont, the Devils were down 1-0 in the first period. Nolan Jennnings and James Gordon gave the Devils life with a 2-1 lead in the second period. Belmont took the lead back with two goals in the third period, 3-2. Gordon scored a tying goal, sending the game into overtime, where Belmont ended up winning 4-3. The Devils had another home game on January 25 against Woburn for Winn Street bragging rights. Woburn took early control of the game after the first period leading 4-1. Nolan Jennings scored a single goal for The Devils, in a heartbreaking loss of 5-1. Burlington is now 6-5-1, and will be on the road in Winchester on Wednesday.

TRACK TEAMS COMPETING IN LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP AND QUALIFIER IN FEBRUARY
Girls and boys indoor track are competing in two meets next week, the Middlesex League Championship meet on February 3 and the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Qualifier meet on February 8.
