Red Devil Round Up: Track Teams Continue to Dominate Opponents, Double Blowout Wins for Baseball

GIRLS TRACK KEEP ON WINNING 
The Burlington High School girls track and field team remain undefeated at 4 and, after delivering a dominant performance against the Stoneham Spartans, earning a 101 – 34 victory. Burlington picked up multiple first place finishes along with several personal and season best marks in the win.

TRACK STARS COMPETE AT MSTCA FRESHMAN-SOPHOMORE INVITATIONAL, REGIS & WESTON TWILIGHT INVITATIONAL

Multiple athletes from both Boys and girls track teams competed at both the MSTCA Jim Hoar Freshman Sophomore Invitational, and the Regis & Weston Twilight Invitational on May 9. Freshman James Roy competed at the MSTCA invite in the 2Mile with a 15th place finish and a personal best. You can check out the rest of the results here. 

The invites continued with the Regis Twilight on the same day at Regis College. Junior Ava Eldridge came in 7th place with a personal best time of 8:06. You can check out the rest of the girls results here. 

Senior Ryan Brooks came in 3rd place in the Javelin at 149′ and 11″ at the Weston Twilight invitational. You can check out the rest of the results for the boys here. 

BOYS BASEBALL BLOWOUT WINS
Burlington baseball had two fantastic games last week, which gave them a boost in the power rankings. Last Tuesday, the Devils hosted the Woburn Tanners in a Battle of Winn Street where they claimed victory this time after a 11-1 victory. They stayed home for a match against the Watertown Red Raiders last Thursday and ended that game with a final score of 12-2 after six innings. 

The Devils are 6 and 8, and will have a busy week with three games on the docket: at Winchester (12 and 2) on Monday, home against the Melrose Red Hawks (6 and 8) on Wednesday, and home against the Wilmington Wildcats (1 and 11) on Friday. 

GIRLS LACROSSE WIN CLOSE MATCH TO STONEHAM
Burlington girls lacrosse picked up a much needed 9-8 victory over Stoneham Spartans on the road last Monday night. Then they lost at home 17-5 to the Belmont Marauders last Wednesday night. 

The Devils have three games remaining in the regular season with a 6 and 9 record. Burlington will be on the road at the Woburn Tanners (7 and 6) on Tuesday, and home against Winchester Red & Black (9 and 6) on Thursday.

BOYS LACROSSE SPLIT CLOSE MATCHES
Burlington boys lacrosse battled it out in two matches last week. The Devils earned a 12-4 blowout home win over Stoneham last Monday, before losing 12-7 on the road in Belmont last Wednesday. 

Now with a 8 and 5 record, they will be at home game against Woburn (4 and 9) on Tuesday, and at Winchester (14 and o) who are currently on Thursday. 

GIRLS SOFTBALL DEFEAT WATERTOWN
Burlington softball lost in a 12-0 shutout on the road to the Woburn Tanners last Tuesday, then defeated Watertown 17-3 on the road last Thursday.

Now at 3 and 10, the Devils will host Winchester (8 and 6) on Monday, before traveling for two road games in Melrose (2 and 12) on Wednesday, and Wilmington (11 and 3) on Friday. 

GIRLS TENNIS SPLITS FOUR MATCHES
The Burlington girls tennis team had two matches last week with mixed results. 

Burlington opened with a 3-2 win over the Woburn Tanners on the road last Tuesday. Singles players Therese Kozinski, Cecelia Fraczek, and Eesha Soni won their matches. 

They were defeated at home 4-1 by the Watertown Red Raiders last Thursday with Fraczek winning in the singles match. 

Burlington is 3 and 7 and will have three home matches this week: Winchester (14 and 0) on Monday, Melrose (7 and 4) on Wednesday, and Wilmington (6 and 6) on Thursday. 

BOYS TENNIS SECURE THREE-GAME WINNING STREAK
The Burlington boys tennis team has found their groove winning three matches in a row. They were on the road last Monday at the Wakefield Warriors, winning 4-1. Match winners were Ridhaan Ayyagari, Arnav Jhumat, Nathan Melanson in singles and Mattheus Torres & Pranav Geo in the doubles. 

Last Wednesday, they defeated the Woburn Tanners in a 5-0 shutout at home. Ayyagari, Jhumat and Vladislav Belenkii won in the singles matches. Nathan Melanson & Austin Li and Pranav Geo & Carter Briscoe won in the doubles. 

They got another win on the road at Watertown last Thursday, 3-2. Singles winners were Ayyagari, Jhumat and double winners Melanson & Torres. 

Now the 7 and 7 Devils will be on the road this week for three matches at Winchester (11 and 2) on Monday, at Melrose (8 and 7) on Wednesday, and at Wilmington (6 and 6) on Friday. 

UNIFIED BASKETBALL LOSE CLOSE MATCH ON THE ROAD
The Burlington Unified Basketball team is 1 and 2 after a 54-50 loss to the Lexington Minutemen on the road last Tuesday. They will remain on the road this week for a matchup with the Wilmington Wildcats (1 and 1) on Tuesday.
