Red Devil Spring Roundup: Scrimmages Over the Weekend for Boys Lacrosse and Volleyball

SPRING SPORTS PREVIEW:
Last week, we went around the fields and courts to catch up with the teams. You can watch that preview here.

BOYS VOLLEYBALL TIE CENTRAL CATHOLIC:
Volleyball had a scrimmage over Central Catholic tying, 2-2, on March 24. The Red Devils have one more scrimmage on March 28 against North Andover and then the season kicks off on March 31 with Billerica Memorial.

GIRLS LACROSSE:
Girls lacrosse will kick the season off on April 4 at Winchester High School.

BOYS LACROSSE COMPETE AGAINST MANCHESTER-ESSEX AND SWAMPSCOTT
Boys lacrosse had two scrimmages over the weekend, Manchester-Essex and Swampscott on March 24 and 25, where they came up short. The team will have three more scrimmages against Lynnfield on March 2 and Concord-Carlisle and Medway on April 1st. The team will start the regular season on April 4 at Varsity Field against Winchester High School.

SOFTBALL:
The softball scrimmage against Boston Latin on March 25 was canceled and they will begin the regular season at Ciarcia Field in Winchester on April 3.

BASEBALL:
Boys baseball has a scrimmage in Billerica on April 1 before the season/home opener at Francis Wyman against Winchester on April 3rd.

GIRLS/BOYS TENNIS:
Both tennis teams will begin the regular season on March 30 against Winchester with the boys at home and the girls away.

GIRLS/BOYS OUTDOOR TRACK:
The track teams start the second Saturday in April with a matchup against Melrose High School at Varsity Field on the 8th.

Robert Parris is BCAT’s Sports and Features Reporter. Robert first got involved with BCAT in January 2016 as a volunteer news reporter. Throughout the year, as a volunteer, he was busy developing his technical skills at the studio and his ENG skills in the field. In the summer of 2017, Robert joined the team full-time. He quickly settled into his role, providing all of the production support for our news programs, as well as providing weekly sports highlights. Robert also produces a weekly feature for BNEWS, as well as a monthly show called, BNEWS Sports Hub, and BCAT’s Game of the Week.
