Red Devil Spring Roundup: Softball Advances to Final Four to Compete Against Number one Seed Westfield

SOFTBALL ADVANCES TO FINAL FOUR AFTER WINS OVER SHEPHERD HILL AND NORTH ATTLEBORO
The (16-4 overall) 4th seeded softball team are heading to the MIAA Final Four after wins in the Round of 16 against Shepherd Hill. Burlington took advantage of their opponents mistakes in the bottom of the second, where they scored two runs, taking the lead 2-1. The ladies closed the game out in the bottom of the sixth with an additional four runs, making the final 6-1.  Burlington was down 1-0 against North Attleboro in the Round of 8. The ladies did not give up without a fight as they rallied to take a lead with two runs around the diamond in the bottom of the sixth inning. They held on to advance to the final four against the number one seeded Westfield (17-1) at Worcester State University on June 14. Catch the full story on BCAT in the next few days.

BOYS OUTDOOR TRACK COMPETE AT MIAA PENTHALON AND GIRLS TRACK AT HEAPATHON
On June 5 and 6, athletes from the boys track team competed in a two-day Decathlon at Varsity Field. Anthony Abbott, Elijah Wolinski and Charles Desmond were the athletes that participated. Wolinski was named Decathlon champion and broke a school record in the 110 hurdles. Congratulations, Elijah! Check out the full results at the site linked here.

Athletes from the girls track, including Lucy Clement, Brooke Baglio, Olivia DiRienzo and Elli Clement, competed in the Heptathlon on the 5th and 6th in Weston. You can check out those results here.

GIRLS LACROSSE PLAYOFF RUN COMES TO HALT IN ROUND OF 8
Girls lacrosse (13-5 overall)  competed in the Round of 16 in Grafton on June 7, where they won the game by five 14-9. The ladies competed against the 1st seeded (20-0) Notre Dame in Hingham during the Round of 8 of the MIAA Playoff Tournament, where the team’s season came to an unfortunate loss of 19-5.

BILLERICA DEFEATS BOYS LACROSSE IN ROUND OF 16
The Red Devils traveled to the fifth seeded Billerica Memorial (12-6) on June 7 in the Round of 16. Burlington scored 4 goals in the 12-4 defeat, ending their season. Seven seniors have departed from the team: Michael Damato, Tyler DaMore, Mason Dupuis, Jonathan Jay, Ryan Kane, Dustyn MacKinnon, and Koby Sloan.

BOYS TENNIS SHUT OUT IN WESTBOROUGH IN ROUND OF 8
The Red Devils boys tennis team hosted Reading Memorial in the Round of 16 of the playoffs  on June 6 at Rahanis, where they got the 4-1 victory. The season came to an end during the Round of 8 in Westborough, where the team was shutout 5-0 in the matches. Brendan Gray, Alex Healy, Alessandro Marchioron and Ben Poehler are the 2023 graduates.
