The regular seasons have ended for all the Red Devil teams and announcements have been made for the MIAA Playoffs.
BOYS TENNIS WINS IN FIRST ROUND OF PLAYOFFS
Boys tennis is 12-6 after a 3-2 loss to Bedford in the regular season finale on May 22. In the division 2 MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington is 6 out of 51.
Burlington had a 4-1 victory in the “Round of 32” of the playoffs against North Attleborough on May 28. They will remain at home for the “Round of 16” against 11th seeded Walpole on June 3 at 4 p.m.
GIRLS TENNIS SEASON ENDS
The girls tennis team is 11-6 after finishing the regular season with a 3-2 win over Bedford on May 22. Winners in the match were Mason Alongi and Sonali Patel in the single matches and the duos of Jules Piscatelli and Alessia Pedruzzi in doubles matches. In the division 2 MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington is 8 out of 39. Their season came to an end after a 4-1 defeat to Holliston in the “Round of 32” of the playoffs on May 28. Phoenix Mahoney and Therese Kosinski won in their doubles match.
Head coach Tony Moschetto was proud of how the team performed this season on the court.
“I was very happy with the girls that came out and played over the winter, they made a big jump which helped a lot,” said Moschetto.
On another note, seven of their athletes will be graduating, including Jia Amarnani, Allison Boyle, Nour Cherradi, Shaila Khan, Archi Patel, Julianne Piscatelli and Ella Woods.
“They were here [Rahanis Park] all the time, showing up to every practice and match,” Moschetto said. “It was a really good group of seniors and I will miss them all.”
BOYS VOLLEYBALL HOST PLAYOFF MATCH
The Red Devil Volleyball team finished the regular season at 8-12 after three losses in a row to Woburn Memorial 3-2, Lexington 3-0 and Billerica 3-2. In the division 2 MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington is 21 out of 81 teams. They will host 44th seed Academy of the Pacific Rim in the Preliminary Round of the playoffs on Friday at 4 p.m.
GIRLS LACROSSE HOSTING CANTON
The Girls lacrosse team are 12-7 after finishing the regular season with a 13-10 win over Masconomet and a 16-12 loss to Chelmsford. Goals in the Masco victory were scored by Ava Robitaille (4), Elisabeth Delorey (3), Charlize Collins (3), CJ Tremblay (2) and Jillian Gillis with one. Goals against Chelmsford were scored by Collins (7), Gillis (2), Ashley Pinkham (1), Tremblay (1) and Viglione (1).
In the division 2 MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington stands at 9 out of 55. The team will host 24th seed Canton in the “Round of 32” of the playoffs. Date and time TBA.
BOYS LACROSSE HOSTING MARTHA’S VINEYARD REGIONAL
The boys’ team is 14-4 after finishing the regular season with a 15-13 win over North Andover on May 23. In the division 3 MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington stands at 5 out of 61. The team will compete with 27th seed Martha’s Vineyard Regional in the “Round of 32” Date and time TBA
GIRLS SOFTBALL ON ROAD FOR PLAYOFFS
The Red Devils softball team has finished the regular season at 10-9 after a 9-1 loss to Westford Academy on May 21 and a 14-8 win over Bishop Fenwick on May 24. In the division 2 MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington is 33 out of 62. Teams that are 33 and below qualify for a play-in game with a .500 or better record. Girls softball will be on the road at six seed Somerset Berkley Regional in the “Round of 32”

BOYS BASEBALL HOST SCITUATE IN PRELIMINARY ROUND
The baseball team finished the regular season at 10-11 after a 4-1 loss to Bedford on May 21, 8-6 loss to Lynnfield on May 24 (Brendan Grant Baseball Tournament) and a 6-5 loss to Belmont on May 25. In the division 2 MIAA Power Rankings, Burlington is 28 out of 56. The team will host 34 seed Scituate at Francis Wyman in the “Preliminary Round” of the playoffs on June 1 at 4 p.m.
BOYS TRACK COMPETE AT MIAA DIVISIONAL TOURNAMENT
Girls and boys track competed in the MIAA Divisional Tournament on May 24 and 25 at Westfield State.
Top finishers in the girls competition were in 4×400 relay team clocking in at 4:14.67 and finishing in third place, Leila Gilligan placed third in 100m hurdles and Hope Hanafin came in sixth place in the 400 meter at 1:00.31.
On Day 1 for the boys, Julian Sacca took eighth place in the discus throw and Alex Murray placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles. Burlington took four out of eight medals in the Pentathlon including Ryan Brooks (third place), Leon Sekandi (fourth place), Charles Desmond (fifth place) and Matt Conte in seventh place. Burlington received medals in all five of the field events during day 2 of competition. Brooks and Ryan McElroy finished second and sixth in the Javelin. Brooks also added a State Championship in the Long Jump at 22′ 1.25″. Sean Cox came in 11th place in the 100 meters, Sacca got a second medal for finishing third place in the discus 48′ 10.75″, Sekandi came in third place in the high jump 6′, Desmond went 10′ 6″ in the pole vault and placed seventh, Murray finished in fifth place in the 110m hurdles, the 4×800 relay team of Rohan Dutta, Krish Almeida, Roy Kanyike and Colin Irwin came in fourth place with a time of 8:17.42 and the 4×4 relay team came in fourth with a time of 3.29.70
The Devils came in second place out of 35 teams and garnered a total of 75.5 points, as for the girls they finished in 21st place out of 35 teams and garnered 13 points. You can check out the full results here.
