A group of Burlington High School athletes did the school and the community proud by first qualifying for and then competing in a Track & Field national championship earlier this month.
Juniors Eric Sekyaya, Anthony Abbott, Rithikh Prakash and seniors Anthony Minichiello and Quinn Flaherty all competed in the New Balance National Outdoor National Championship in Philly on June 16 and 19.
Prakash competed in two events – the 2 mile and 5K. In his performance in the 2 mile, Prakash finished in 27th place with a time of 9:25.35. He came in 5th place during his 5K event with a time of 15.19.
Sekyaya, Abbott, Minichiello and Flaherty were part of the school’s 4×400 relay race team. Burlington came in 29th place with a time of 3:29.30.
Congrats gentlemen on competing in the New Balance Nationals! We would like to wish the graduating seniors the best of luck in their futures.
