BOB CONCEISON HONORED AT ED CAHOON TOURNAMENT
Burlington (5-13-2 overall) had a one-sided affair against Melrose, 4-1, on Feb. 15. Goal scorers in the hockey game were Ryan Kane (1), Dillon O’Reilly (1), Koby Sloan (1) and Alex Robbins (1). Burlington lost to Woburn,6-3, at home on Feb. 16. Click here for the highlights. Goal scorers in the game were senior Will Curtin (1), junior Charlie Andriolo (1) and sophomore Jake Sloan (1). Over the weekend, Burlington got back into the win column with a 2-1 victory over Wakefield Memorial on Feb. 18. Sophomore Seamus McMakin had both goals. On Presidents’ Day, Burlington competed in the 30th annual Ed Cahoon Tournament with a special ceremony honoring former head coach Bob Conceison. The Devils lost in Game 1 to Framingham, 7-2. Goal scorers in the game were senior Koby Sloan and sophomore Nolan Jennings.
GIRLS HOCKEY CAME AWAY VICTORIOUS OVER WAYLAND AND MELROSE
Burlington (12-4-2 overall) had a blowout win over Wayland, 5-1, on Feb. 13. Goal scorers in the game were junior Anna Viglione (2), senior Abby Souza (1), sophomore Lexi MacKinnon (1) and eighth grader Katherine Geswell (1). Another big win came in Melrose, 7-3, on Feb. 15. Goal scorers in the game were juniors Shea McDonald (2), Anna Viglione (1), sophomore Lexi MacKinnon (2), and eighth graders Katherine Geswell (1) and Emma Steiner (1).
Burlington had two shutout games against Wakefield, 4-0, on Feb. 18. and Woburn, 3-0, on Feb. 21. Goals in the Wakefield game were eighth graders Katherine Geswell (2), Emma Steiner (1) and junior Shea McDonald (1). In the shutout win over Woburn, goals were made by junior Shea McDonald (1), sophomore Lexi MacKinnon (1) and eighth grader Katherine Geswell (1). Burlington is now waiting the Mass. Interscholastic Athletic Association (MIAA) Playoff Tournament seeding.
GIRLS GYMNASTICS COMPETE AT STATES
Lady Devils Gymnastics (8-1 overall) competed in the Middlesex League Meet on Feb. 13. Burlington came in second place with a score of 142.6. Three gymnasts qualified for the state individuals: Ava Schenck Davis, Sam Winn, and Jenna Lyonnais. Schenck-Davis did not compete, Winn came in 5th place on Bars and 6th place on the Floor Exercise. Lyonnais compete on the Floor Exercise as well and finished in 21st place.
BOYS BASKETBALL FINISH REGULAR SEASON AGAINST WILMINGTON AND WESTFORD ACADEMY
Burlington (15-5 overall) won over Wilmington, 75-59, on Feb. 14. Leading offensively in the game was junior Cedric Rodriguez (30 points), senior Ben Poehler (14 points), junior Jaden Brehm (13 points), and seniors Jordan Sutherland and Eric Sekyaya, both with 9 points. The Devils finished the regular season with a win over Westford Academy, 66-55, on Feb. 17. Leading offensively in the game were juniors Cedric Rodriguez (21 points), Jaden Brehm (15 points), seniors Eric Sekyaya (13 points) and Ben Poehler (11 points). Burlington now waits for the seeding in the MIAA Playoff Tournament.
GIRLS B-BALL TAKE ON WILMINGTON AND MALDEN CATHOLIC
Burlington (9-11 overall) defeated Wilmington, 55-39, on Feb. 14. Leading offensively were sophomore Savanna Scali (20 points), senior Alyvia Pena (18 points) and sophomore Madison King (10 points) The ladies lost their last home regular season game over Malden Catholic, 42-31, on Feb. 16. Click here for the highlights. Burlington finished out the season with a win in Waltham,61-48, on Feb. 21. Leading offensively was senior Alyvia Pena and sophomore Savanna Scali both scored 28 pts. each. The girls now wait for the seeding in the MIAA Division 2 Playoff Tournament.
TRACK TEAMS COMPETE AT MIAA DIVISION 3 TRACK AND FIELD CHAMPIONSHIP
Athletes on both Burlington track teams competed at the MIAA T&F Championship on Feb. 19. Both teams finished in the second place, with the girls getting a total of 58 points and the boys coming away with 45. You can check out the full results here.
DEVILS WRESTLERS ATTEND DIVISION 3 MIAA STATE TOURNAMENT
Senior captains Marcus Tucci and Ahmad Kiswani competed at the Division 3 MIAA State Tournament on Feb. 18. Check out the full results here. Both athletes took 6th place with 21 points at States and qualified in the for the All-States Meet this coming weekend.
BOYS SWIMMING ATHLETE COMPETES AT DIVISON 2 MIAA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP
Red Devil Swimmer and senior Alex Genov competed in the Division 2 MIAA State Championship Meet at the MIT Pool in Cambridge over Presidents’ Day weekend. Genov came in 17th place for his performance in the 50 Yard Freestyle with a time of 23.43.
