GIRLS TRACK ATHLETES COMPETE AT MSTCA PENTATHLON AND N.E. CHAMPIONSHIP
Athletes Cora Laverty and Althea Wolinkski both competed at the MSTCA Pentathlon on March 2. at Shrewsbury High School. You can check out the full results here. Laverty placed in 10th and Wolinkski placed in 48th out of 109 athletes. Grace Hanafin and Char Collins both competed at the N.E. Championship Meet in the Long Jump event on March 4th at the Reggie Lewis Center in Boston. Hanafin came in 3rd (18’2″) and Collins in 7th (17’7″). Congratulations to all the athletes who competed this past week.
GIRLS GYMNASTICS CAME TO A CLOSE
Lady Devils Gymnastics competed in the MIAA Sectionals Tournament on Feb. 25 at Algonquin Regional High School. Burlington finished in seventh place out of 12 and came in with a score of 140.26. You can check out the full results team here. Individual results are here. The team did not qualify to the MIAA State Championship this year. Graduating seniors from the team are Samantha Winn and Jenna Lyonnais.
GIRLS HOCKEY NOW IN “ELITE 8” ROUND AFTER DEFEATING NORWELL AND WINCHESTER
Burlington is moving on to the “Elite 8” round of the MIAA playoffs after two playoff wins last week against Norwell, 4-2, on March 1. and Winchester, 2-1, on March 4. Goals in the Norwell game came from sophomores Caitlyn Tremblay (2), Lexi McKinnon (1) and junior Anna Viglione (1). You can check out the game in its entirety here. In the Winchester game, goal scorers were from 8th grader Emma Steiner (1) and sophomore Caitlyn Tremblay (1).Â
The team will now face the number-one seeded Archbishop Williams (16-3-1) at the Canton Ice House on March 8. at 7 p.m. Good luck Devils!
BOYS BASKETBALL ADVANCED TO “ROUND OF 16” IN MIAA TOURNAMENT
Burlington secured a win, 62-50, after competing at Canton High School in the “Round of 32” of the MIAA Playoffs on March 3. Leading offensively in the game was juniors Cedric Rodriguez (22 points), Jaden Brehm (14 points), seniors Eric Sekyaya (12 points) and Ben Poehler (12 points). The Red Devils will travel to third-seeded Sharon High School (17-3) on March 7 at 6 p.m.
GIRLS BASKETBALL SEASON ENDS IN NEWBURYPORT
The ladies hosted a playoff game against Ursuline Academy in the “Preliminary Round” of the MIAA Tournament on Feb. 28, where they got the win 67-49. Newburyport ended the Devils’ season, 56-31, in the “Round of 32” on Mar 2. Graduating seniors from the the team are Cassidy Soohoo, Ava and Ali Restivo and Alyvia Pena.
