BASKETBALL TEAMS DEFEAT MIDDLESEX RIVAL
The basketball teams continue their strong season with wins over the Melrose Red Raiders on January 3. The boys team won the game 54-46, with top scorers being Matt Gray with 18 points, Anthony Gerrior with 12 and Justin Gray with 10.Burlington improves to 5-1 overall, they will be on the road in Arlington on Tuesday evening. The girls team won by 11 in the game, 45-34. Top scorers from the matchup were Merin Jones with 15 points, D.E. Reilly with 13 and Savanna Scali with 10. The girls improve to 5-1 as well and have a matchup on Monday night in Ipswich.

GIRLS GYMNASTICS KICK OFF NEW SEASON
Lady Devils Gymnastics started the season with a close win of 129 to 126 against Woburn on January 2. Burlington is back at it on Tuesday evening against Winchester.
DEVILS WRESTLING FALL IN ALL THREE MATCHES
Burlington Wrestling went 0-3 in a tri-meet against Bedford/Acton Boxboro, Hanover and Winchester on January 4. Although the team lost in the matchups, Burlington wrestlers had a number of individual wins.
To start out the day the Devils had four wins in the Bedford/Acton Boxboro matchup, Max Shvartsman, Kai Gong, Cameron Bonnell, Christian Im and Tyler Vadnais in the 106, 126, 138, 190 and 285 weight classes, respectively.
Against Hanover Burlington won six Gong, Bonnell, Noah Farrow, Connor McElroy, Chris Tasiopoulos and Josh Leavitt won their matchups in the 126, 138, 144, 150, 157 and 215 weight classes, respectively.
In their final meet of the day against Winchester five matches were victories: Shvartsman, Lukas Abreu, Bonnell, McElroy and Leavitt had wins in the 106, 132, 138, 150 and 215 weight classes, respectively. They now stand at 3-11 and will remain home for a matchup against Melrose on Wednesday evening which we will be featuring as our Game of the Week.
BOYS SWIM RETURN NEXT WEEK
Red Devil Swimming are returning this Friday for a matchup against Winchester, hoping to get their first win of the season after losing to Belmont, Arlington and Reading earlier in December. They stand at 0-3.
HOCKEY TEAMS DROP PUCK IN STONEHAM
Girls hockey had a huge eight to two win against Stoneham on January 4, improving their record to 3-2. Goals in the game were from: Sofia Cleary, Emma Steiner, Caitlyn Tremblay, Shayla Kocur, Chloe Rabazzi and Ava Robitaille. The team has three games this week with a road matchup on Wednesday in Leominster and two home games against Melrose on Saturday and Boston Latin on Sunday.
Boys hockey had a different outcome with a two to one loss against the Spartans. Nolan Jennings scored the lone goal for the Devils. It will be a busy week with three games scheduled: Newburyport on Monday, Watertown on Wednesday and Melrose on Saturday. They are now 2-3 this season.
TRACK TEAMS COMPETED WITH WILMINGTON
Girls and boys indoor track had a meet with the Wilmington Wildcats on January 2. The boys defeated their opponent 61-39. The boys are now 2-1 this season. It was the exact same score for the girls as well, however they lost against the Wildcats. The girls are now 1-2 this season. You can check out both of the team results here.
They continued to compete well into the weekend at the Massachusetts State Track Coaches Association Freshman and Sophomore Meet on January 5. You can check out those results here.
Both of the squads will have another meet against Wakefield on Tuesday afternoon.
