Red Devil Winter Sports: Burlington Teams Compete on School Break

RED DEVIL WRESTLING COMPETES IN GEORGE BOSSI HOLIDAY TOURNEY
The Burlington wrestling team finished 75th place out of 86 teams at the George Bossi Holiday Tournament during the winter break.  Check out the full results here.

After the tournament, the team came hosted a tri-meet on the last day of the calendar year, finishing 2-1.

Burlington (4-4 overall) topped Billerica 42-36 in the first match of the day. Pins came from Ryan McGillivray, Jaden Alford, Marcus Tucci, Ahmad Kiswani and Jonathan Panagou. In the second match, Burlington had a tough time against Lexington in a 54-30 loss. Three pins came from Alford, Tucci and Panagou. The Devils bounced back against Middleboro 42-30, with pins by McGillivray, Alford, Tucci, Kiswani and Panagou.

Burlington will travel to Wilmington High School for an away contest on Jan. 4.

 

LADY DEVILS HOCKEY SPLITS GAMES OVER WINTER BREAK
On New Year’s Eve, Burlington (5-1 overall) fell to Malden Catholic, 4-2, with both goals for the Lady Devils being scored by sophomore Elena Seremitis. However, the team had an easier time against the Marblehead on Dec. 28 SchoolSc they shutout their opponent, 5-0.

The Lady Devils will have a home game against Arlington Catholic on Jan. 4.

 

RED DEVILS BOYS HOCKEY LOOKING FOR FIRST WIN
Burlington (0-3-1 overall) was fit to be tied as after three periods of play, the Red Devils and Melrose skated to a 0-0 draw on New Year’s Eve. The team did score on offense against Belmont with one goal for the Red Devils being scored by senior Koby Sloan in the 2-1 loss on Dec. 28.

Burlington will have another home game against Wilmington on Jan. 4.

 

LADY DEVILS B-BALL GET ONE IN THE WIN COLUMN
It was the first win of the season for Burlington (1-5 overall) as they defeated Malden Catholic, 57-55. On winter break, the Lady Devils lost a home game against Waltham on Dec. 29, 63-52. The girls lost the following game in Lexington, 51-36, on Jan. 3.

Burlington will be back at home on Jan. 6 for a matchup against Watertown.

 

RED DEVIL BOYS B-BALL HAS FIRST LOSS
The day before winter break began, Burlington (6-1 overall) had a tough matchup against Leominster on Dec.22 as they lost by 11 points 55-44. During the winter break, the team went to Tewksbury on Dec.28 for the Tony Romano Christmas Tourney. Burlington had wins over Malden 51-40 and then a 68-61 win over Tewksbury. Back at home on Jan. 3 the Devils topped Lexington 66-62.

The team will have another home game on Jan. 6 against Watertown.

 

TRACK TEAMS REMAIN UNDEFEATED
Both track teams are riding high as the girls and boys (3-0 overall) both have undefeated record. Before winter break both teams competed against Watertown. The girls won 62-38, while the boys won 73-26 on Dec. 22. Their success continued against Melrose on Dec.30 with a 57-43 win for the girls and a 60-40 win for the boys.

Another meet at the Track at New Balance will take place for the two on Jan. 5 against Wakefield Memorial.

 

BOYS SWIMMING LOSSES FIRST MATCH OF THE SEASON
The Red Devils (1-1 overall) have a loss in the column after an 88-72 over Lexington on Dec. 22. Burlington did have time to relax during the winter break as they are heading back to the pool on Jan. 4 in Belmont.

 

GIRLS GYMNASTICS SEASON KICKS OFF
Lady Devils (0-0 overall) are heading to Reading on Jan. 4 to compete against the Rockets.

 

RED DEVIL GYMNASTICS HOST ALUMNI MEET BEFORE SEASON OPENER
Red Devil mens Gymnastics Alumni Meet was on Dec. 23 with the BHS team (0-0 overall) securing the win over the alumni in exhibition play, 144-138. Stay tuned for the full meet. Burlington will start off the season on the road in Braintree on Jan. 6
