Red Devils Secure First Win Over Somerville Highlanders

The Red Devils put the pedal to the metal when they faced Somerville on Friday and came out with their first victory of the season.

The Burlington defense did not allow any points to Somerville and pressured sophomore quarterback Victor Nathan Santiago throughout the evening. The Devils forced a number of errors on Somerville’s offense including a fumble recovered by senior defensive lineman Christian Aine, an interception picked off by senior/linebacker Tim Vandais, a blocked punt and a sack made by junior defensive tackle Anthony Elkins.

The Red Devil offense found the endzone as Burlington put up five touchdowns against Somerville. Senior/running back Adam Eldeeb ran it three times, one in the first quarter and twice in the second. Junior/tight end Gabe Santiago got his first touchdown of the season that was thrown by senior/quarterback Ronan Noke in the first quarter. Noke also had his fair share of scoring as he ran it in twice in the first and then once more in the second quarter.

At half the score was 42 to nothing Burlington. The Red Devils used the clock to their advantage in the third and fourth quarter, while their defense continued to stop the Highlanders every time they were on the field. Burlington went home happy as they secured their first win of the season over Somerville with a final score of 42-0.

They will head to Winchester High School on Thursday, November 11 for a consolation game at 6pm.
