After the news that some of the sculptures from the Sculpture Park’s Pigs on Parade fundraiser will find new homes at Burlington schools, details are emerging about the specific pigs and their new digs.
“Abstraction,” which was painted by Burlington High School students Dove Jimenez and Eiko Coram, is already a much-loved installation at Pine Glen Elementary School.
“Pap,” which was sponsored by the Burlington Science Center and painted by Nina Samutchotchuang, will live outside the Science Center at BHS, near the turtle and bird enclosures, when weather permits.
“Sowwy Night,” sponsored by Reimer and Braunstein and painted by students Onyx Hopkins, Afsa Khalifa, Guiliana Magrane and Nyasha Lee-Anne Mlilwana, will be installed outside of Fox Hi
ll Elementary School.
“Pat,” sponsored by Brookline Bank and painted by students Dino Apinian, Bridget Boermeester and Jazmine Gordillo Leon, will live at Francis Wyman Elementary School.
And “Willa,” sponsored by RE/MAX realty Experts and realtor Beverlee Vidoli and painted by students Afsa Khalifa, Nyasha Lee-Anne Mlilwana, Onyx Hopkins and Guiliana Magrane, will to go Memorial Elementary School.
“Students have been an integral part of the sculpture park since its first installation in 2020,” said Burlington Sculpture Park Chair Barbara L’Heureux. “We are thrilled to continue that partnership with the installation of the pig sculptures outside Burlington Schools.”
“Thank you to the Sculpture Park Committee for sharing the pig sculptures with all of our elementary schools,” added School Committee Chair Christine Monaco. “Our BHS art students loved being a part of the project and we are excited to showcase their work. Our young learners are very fond of their new pig buddies.”
