Legendary former Burlington High School baseball coach Jim Curtin passed away on Wednesday.
Curtin coached at the school for 52 years and during his time at the helm the team won 612, went to 39 state tournaments and captured 12 league titles.
Curtin retired from Burlington High School, where he was also a math teacher, in 2013. Later that year the school department named the baseball field at Francis Wyman elementary school the “Coach Jim Curtin Field.”
Curtin is survived by his wife of 58 years, Judy, seven children and 17 grandchildren.
Coach Curtin spoke to BNEWS in 2013 at the time of his retirement in an interview that looked back over his long career as a coach, his previous career as a player and his role as a family man. You can watch that interview here.
