Resident Donation to Provide Police Department With Tactical Medical Kits

The Burlington Police Department will have two new tactical medical kits thanks to a generous donation from a Burlington resident.

“We are very fortunate to receive a very generous donation from a citizen,” Town Administrator Paul Sagarino said at the latest Select Board meeting. “Dr. Richard Lewis donated $1,500 to the town. He’s a resident and a dentist and he wanted us to provide some additional public safety training or equipment and through his generous donation we’re going to utilize it for two additional tactical medical kits for police cruisers.”

Sagarino said these are special medical kits that can handle mass casualty incidents and the Police Department has been working to transition to these types of units.

“They’re not the typical medical kit everyone would carry around,” he said.

Dr. Lewis, now retired, has lived and worked in the Burlington community for over 40 years.
