Sculpture Park Committee Seeks Input on First 18 Postcards

The Burlington Sculpture Park Committee is getting ready to launch its Burlington Postcard project but first is seeking input from the public.

Committee Chair John Sachs said the postcard project was a way to expand on the mission of the sculpture park to change the way people see and think about Burlington.

“When people think of Burlington, they think of the mall,” he said. “The idea of the park is that rather than visitors thinking of the mall they think about the sculptures. The purpose of the postcards is part of changing the image of the town to have people say ‘look at the historical things we have, the scenic places we have, the sculpture park.’”

Last year the committee put a call-out to residents to submit their photos to be considered for a postcard. Now they have compiled 18 images they feel are best suited to represent the town and are asking the public to offer feedback. Sachs said they want to ensure they aren’t missing something residents feel really should be included or have postcards people don’t like.

Sachs said he expects the postcards to be printed by the end of March. The committee will give them people in exchange for a donation to support the Burlington Sculpture Park. They are also looking into partnering with local businesses to have them sold in their stores.
