‘Stop the Bleed’ Training Offered

The Burlington Volunteer Reserve Corps (BVRC) is pleased to invite the public to a“Stop the Bleed” training on October 23rd at 1:30 pm at the Human Services Building, 61 Center Street, Burlington. The training will be conducted by Rashod Blades, BSN, BS, RN, Public Health Nurse with Tri-Ton Coalition. “Stop the Bleed” is a nationwide campaign to empower non-medical individuals to learn more about bleeding control and how to act in a situation that requires an immediate response. Participants will also receive a free Stop the Bleed Kit. The campaign is sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security which states that “No matter how rapid the arrival of professional emergency responders, bystanders will always be first on the scene. A person who is bleeding can die from blood loss within five minutes, therefore it is important to quickly stop the blood loss. ”More information on “Stop the Bleed” can be found at https://www.dhs.gov/stopthebleed.
