On Sunday, August 29th Temple Shalom Emeth held its annual open house. Over 50 people including many children from Burlington and surrounding communities were treated to learning how to blow the shofar, a rams horn that is blown on the Jewish new year called Rosh Hashanah, a live animal show, an ice cream truck sponsored by Joanna Schlansky, and a great time was had by all. The open house was held to introduce Jewish and partly Jewish families to the Temple community. It is also a time for current temple members to gather and reconnect with one another. The temple community will gather again Tuesday, September 7th during the holiday of Rosh Hashanah for a special shofar blowing in the Temple parking lot. Temple Shalom Emeth is Burlington’s only synagogue. Anyone interested in more information can check out the Temple’s website.
