Superintendent Conti Adds Additional Year to Contract During Negotiations

Burlington Public Schools Superintendent Eric Conti added a year to his current contract after the School Committee met in executive session for negotiations.

Committee Chair Thomas Murphy announced during the regular session that the committee and Conti had successfully negotiated the contract. The superintendent’s contract has a clause that it can be revised the year after he has a review, which happened last June.

“We revise his contract based on his wishes and the committee’s feeling of his performance,” Murphy said, noting that the review last year was overwhelmingly positive.

Murphy said the two changes made to the contract were a two percent Cost-of-Living Adjustment (COLA) and the addition of an additional year. The contract now runs through August 17, 2027.

“Those were the town items he requested and the School Committee agreed,” he said. “So we’ve got you for another six years. I think the committee was pleased with his performance this past year and for the past 13 years and we look forward to another good year.”

The committee voted unanimously to approve the contract.
