Suspect in Attempted Kidnapping Held Pending Dangerousness Hearing

The suspect arrested in connection to the attempted kidnapping last Sunday on Middlesex Turnpike was in court on Wednesday morning.

Tyler Healey, 23, who has ties to Burlington but most recently lived in Waltham and Newton, was at Woburn District Court for arraignment. He is being charged with Assault with Intent to Rape, Attempt to Commit a Crime (Kidnapping), Assault with Intent to Commit a Felony Indecent Assault and Battery on a Person 14 or Over.

Healey is being held until he is due back in court May 17 for a dangerousness hearing.

According to Burlington Police, on Sunday, May 8 at approximately 8:20 p.m., they received a 911 call from a caller who reported stopping their vehicle after seeing a female victim being dragged away on foot by a male suspect, later identified as Healey, on Middlesex Turnpike near Great Meadow Road.

In a surveillance video you can see a woman walking on the far side of the street with the alleged suspect walking behind. At one point the attacker runs up behind and appears to try and tackle her. The suspect holds on to the woman as they both walk through the intersection. During the struggle the 911 caller stops her and the suspect flees the scene.

According to prosecutors, it was Healey’s father who turned his son in after recognizing him in the footage. He said his son has mental health issues and has a history of violence.

In 2020 Healey was arrested in Framingham after threatening to find off duty police officers and kill them, WBZ reports.
