Rabbi Susan Abramson of Temple Shalom Emeth is preparing for a Hanukkah that looks more like past years. Besides the lighting of the menorah, there will also be a Hanukkah Party on Sunday, Dec. 18. To Abramson, the word Hanukkah means rededication.
“To me, this means rededication to our values. We are the light of the menorah, the shamash who are capable of lighting up the lives of others,” she said.
Abramson said the temple is in the middle of its Annual Appeal, and that the generosity of the community is needed more than ever. Her hope is to enrich each night of Hanukkah by doing a mitzvah.
“To me, the greatest gifts during the Hanukkah season are the gifts we give to brighten the lives of others,” she said.
