The Mama Bear Effect Honored By Select Board

The Burlington based non profit The Mama Bear Effect was founded by Adrianne Simeone 12 years ago. Their mission is to raise awareness, and help parents educate their children, on body safety for the prevention of child sexual abuse.

Representatives of The Mama Bear Effect were before the Select Board recently to be recognized by a proclamation. Community Relations Coordinator Jenna Lloyd and The Mama Bear Effect Board members Zarah Axelrod and Joe Parillo were on hand. Select Board Chair Nick Priest, who also serves on The Mama Bear Effect Board of Directors, read the degree.

Both present The Mama Bear Effect Board members commented on what the proclamation means.

“This act really does help spread the message,” said Axelrod. “We’ll go into April, child abuse prevention month with all your support.”

“As a Burlington parent I’m also so grateful to be raising my family in a town that supports initiatives such as The Mama Bear Effect. It’s an issue that affects all of us that work and care and love children so we appreciate all the support we’re getting from the community and hopefully we’ll continue to get that support moving forward,” Parillo stated.
