Tied Write-In Vote Leads to Precinct 4 Meeting

Burlington Town Clerk Amy Warfield is giving notice that there is a tie vote and a vacancy for Burlington’s Precinct 4 Town Meeting.

In that precinct’s race, Karen Cooper, Reid Cooper, Michael Proulx and Schiffon Wong four of the precinct’s six open seats outright; Bill Lisano won a fifth spot as a write-in candidate with four votes. For the last open seat, Ellen Ferguson and Kevin Spielberger each received two write-in votes.

The remaining members of Precinct 4 have been notified of a meeting on Monday, April 10 at 6 p.m. to break the tie.

In a separate issue, a Precinct 4 Town Meeting Member vacated her seat after the election cutoff, so precinct members will vote to fill that empty seat until the next election.

Those who wish to be appointed to fill a vacancy until the next election should contact a Precinct 4 Town Meeting Member to have their name placed in nomination. The list of active Town Meeting members is available on the Town Clerk’s website.
