Toasting the Success of the PHP Wine Tasting & Auction Fundraiser

The People Helping People Wine Tasting and Auction fundraiser was once again a sell out, according to event organizer and People Helping People Secretary Janet Sullivan.

“This year the event sold out quicker than any other year,” Sullivan said proudly.

For the 12th year in a row Bob Murray has hosted the fundraiser at Cafe Escadrille and financed the entire event which featured several types of wine and appetizers.

This year they raised approximately $38,000, which is greatly appreciated given the uncertainty in the federal government and future of funding.

“We don’t know how it’s going to affect food pantries,” said Sulivan. “So this year more than ever it was important that we raised a good amount of money.”

Several large parties bought tables with attendees being quite charitable. Several auction items were overbid on by hundreds of dollars, for both the live and silent auctions. Hot auction items included a vinyl record signed and donated by Gracie Abrams, the opening act for Taylor Swift and a dinner for 6 courtesy of The Capital Grille.

“I have to say it was one of the best years ever,” said Sullivan. “This year more than ever everybody seemed so happy to be there.”

People Helping People’s only expense was paying for the event programs thanks to the generosity of the event’s sole sponsor Bob Murray.

“Without him, this wouldn’t exist,” Sulllivan said thankfully.
